Just a Quick Random Update Post

By On July 28, 2016
So whether you believe it or not, I'M ACTUALLY NOT DEAD. (Admit it, you were waiting on a funeral invitation.) NOPE. I'm still alive and kicking. *cough* But... not really blog posting. I HAVE AN EXPLANATION FOR THIS SUDDEN DISAPPEARANCE. Which I'm sure you're all dying to hear so let's get on with that. XD

Okay so I made sure to post my last blog post the day before I left for Pennsylvania. (If you didn't know I was going to Pennsylvania don't worry I think I only mentioned it like once. Or maybe not at all.) That way I wouldn't need to post on my vacation.

Enter next week. We were leaving for camping on Thursday. So naturally I planned my post to be on Thursday. (I EVEN HAD IT ALL WRITTEN but the good news is you'll still probably see it later this week or next week.) Which was still a kind of big gap between posts for me, but I obviously couldn't post while I was camping. (Because tents don't have wif-fi.) So I figured if I scheduled it for the day we were leaving, there would be less of a gap between posts.

(DON'T WORRY THIS WILL MAKE SENSE SOON.)

But.

We had hail damage on our roof last week, and the guys who were fixing it came on Thursday. Evidently, they had to take off the internet satellite, hence murdering the wi-fi.

So yeah no blog post without wi-fi. XD The guy who was fixing it came a few days ago so I'M BACK.

Anyhow this post is sort of going to double as my monthly wrap-up post. (I KNOW IT WAS NOTHING LIKE A MONTHLY WRAP-UP POST SHUSH DON'T QUESTION THIS. XD) Actually I may or may not ditch monthly wrap-up posts entirely? I haven't decided quite yet but we'll see.

But in the future you can expect some fun posts so stay tuned for that. :D

And just one more random note because this post is already a jumbled mess of randomness anyways. WHEN DID THIS NEW GOOGLE FRIEND CONNECT BUTTON HAPPEN BECAUSE I LOVE IT.

Why You Need a Blog: The Official 33 Reason List

By On July 11, 2016
You need a blog, person reading this.

Why, you ask?

*rubs hands together evilly*

YOU CANNOT ARGUE WITH THIS GARGANTUAN LIST, KID. YOU JUST CAN'T. #trustmeonthisone You can't even argue with it's undeniable overall jumbledness. IT'S SOLID AS TITANIUM. (plus I added the word "official" to the post title just to make it sound that much more convincing)

And if you already have a blog... then... WELL KEEP READING so you'll feel inspired and motivated and all that good stuff. XD

Let's take a look at the list, shall we?

1. Blogs are fun. Ask anyone.

2. Blogs make us more responsible. Because trying to keep up with deadlines makes you more responsible. I'm not kidding.

3. Blogs are fun. Let's just reiterate this again now, okay?

4. Blogs motivate us to write. Because when your hungry followers want MORE you have no choice but to keep them satisfied. DO NOT BE FRIGHTENED IT IS NOT AS HARD AS IT SOUNDS.

5. Blogs allow us to make connections with others. NO WAY? YOU GET TO MEET NEW PEOPLE IF YOU BLOG?? Yes, you do. *pat*

Typically it goes something like that.

6. Having a blog basically just makes you that much more cool than everyone else. Don't let it get to your head though. XD

7. You can rave about all your fandoms UNLIMITEDLY. *whispers* Read The Outsiders OR ELSE.

8. You can share your writing on your blog. And you probably should, every once in a while. *hasn't done this in ages* XD

9. Dude a virtual army of ninjas hellooooo. I think we can all see the obvious benefits of this.

10. You get to stalk other people. And we all know stalking is so much more fun when the person can stalk you back.

11. You get to read books before they're published. YES IT'S TRUE ASK ANY BLOGGER. We typically resort to blackmail in order to achieve this. *cough* (Don't take me seriously on this one, okay? And DO NOT tell me you don't take me seriously on a regular basis. #ouch)

12. You get to make cheesy jokes and no one gives you weird looks. That's not to say they aren't making weird looks, it's just they can't give them to you because that doesn't really work over the internet. And since I obviously HAVE to put a cheesy joke here...

Okay that totally just ended up being an accidental double pun. XD

13. Publicity is actually a thing, believe it or not. Umm... yeah let's go with NOT.

14. You can acquire beta readers. Which you probably want beta readers, RIGHT?

15. You can tell people you know that you have a blog. Just for kicks. See how they respond.

16. You can talk to your favorite authors. OKAY so technically you can do this without your own blog, but when A FAVORITE AUTHOR COMMENTS ON YOUR BLOG. #thrilled XD

17. If you make mistakes there's a thing called 'edit post'. Because we've all made our share of typos.

18. Blogging grows your TBR list. YES this is a good thing. I think. Is it a good thing? I guess it depends on whether or not you're drowning in TBRs...

19. You can rant to your followers about your pet peeves. To which they will most likely turn a sympathetic ear.

20. You can become famous. Once you've been blogging for, say, tennish years. XD

21. Blogging is fun. No I did not already mention this. You were hallucinating. XD

22. You might go mildly crazy but your followers won't know that. Unless, of course, you tell them.

23. You can do monthly wrap-up posts. Which can include anything you want, like chocolate quotes and Kronk gifs.

23. You can be delightfully random. See above reason.

24. You can throw gifs around solely for the fun of it.

25. I said you should. However since I'm generous enough to give you 32 other reasons, let us proceed. XD

26. You can engage in virtual pillow fights. okay maybe not but IT'S OKAY TO WISH, RIGHT?

27. You can share your wishes with the world. To which the world hopefully responds by granting you THEM ALL. (also don't take this as permission to throw any pillows at me, unless, of course, you wish me to throw them back, in which case DUDE BRING IT.)

28. You can interview authors. They don't bite. At least not always.

29. You get to review books. And then when someone else READS THE BOOK YOU REVIEWED POSITIVELY AND LOVES IT. #joinmyfandom

30. You can be sarcastic if you so desire. Which... you can also do in real life but somehow it's more fun on a blog. XD

31. You get to become a more techy individual. (Just tell me if you need help with any tech things once you're done reading this list and have decided to start a blog. Not that I'll be able to help you, of course. *cough*)

32. Dude, it's fun. No you haven't seen this before. #trustme

33. I'll probably stalk you. This is definitely a legit reason. *nod*

IS ANYONE GOING TO START A BLOG NOW? *cough* (okay never mind don't answer that) Most of you already have blogs anyways... what did you think of my reasons? Anything to add? :D

Purposeful Pages: July Edition

By On July 06, 2016
HEY GUYS today I'm excited to participate in a link-up that my friends Amanda and Hannah have just started!

It's called Purposeful Pages. It's a monthly link-up designed to unite bloggers on answering questions about life, blogging, the Bible, writing, and books.

Purposeful Pages Meme

(okay totally unrelated but can we all just acknowledge the photo editing future there)

So if you've never done a link-up before, it's basically just like a tag, only... you don't tag people. XD Instead, anyone who wants to do jumps in and answers the questions! New questions will be up each month on Hannah and Amanda's blogs. (They also both have pages about the link-up where you can get more information about it, if you want. :D)

So here we go with the questions. :D

the questions

What verse and chapter from the Bible inspired you most this month, and why?

Well the verse would probably be John 8:32. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. It's a main theme in my novel, so it means a lot to me. :D

And the chapter would probably be Romans 8. There's just sooo many great truths from this chapter. Also it has tons of 'famous' verses like verse 28, 31, 32, 35, 37, 38, and 39. (Actually the whole chapter is very well-known, but those are just some of the highlights.)

What's a book (fiction or nonfiction) that you read or continued reading this month that reminded you of an important truth?

Well I read Navigating Early by Clare Vanderpool, and the truth that really struck me from this one is that sometimes in a friendship you don't understand the other person. Sometimes you just want to give up and quit. But part of being friends is just being there for the other person, even when you don't understand what they're doing.

Do you have any goals for yourself this month? If so, what are they?

CAMP NANO which for me is 7k words but other than that nothing much! :D

Have you discovered anything new or changed your blog around this month?

Hahaha well sort of? I DID MANAGE TO FIX THE ISSUES I WAS HAVING THOUGH and I got new buttons last month, so that's exciting. Also I got up a blogs page. :)

What is your favorite blog post that you wrote in June?

Can you share one quotable thing from your novel/book (if applicable) that you recently wrote?

I guess it’s too late now.
It's only a matter of seconds, and then blackness encompasses my being. Sweet, painless blackness.
I fall into its comforting arms, leaving the fire, the pain, and the truth behind.

and also

And now we’re leaving it to branch into a strange, new world.
Or maybe it’s not the world that’s new. Maybe it’s my perspective.

and one more because why not

It’s like my mind is grasping for something just out of reach, something it can’t quite place, leaving me to flounder in confusion.

What biblical character would you get along with the most, and why?

Hmm I would probably say John. Because a) we share a similar name (totally influential guys), b), I really like the book of the Bible that he wrote because the gospel is presented very clearly, and c) he got to touch and see and talk to Jesus which would be really cool so I'm a little jealous. XP Although I will someday also. :D

Favorite new word unearthed from the dictionary?

epigrammatic- expressing something such as a feeling or idea in a short and clever or funny way

In the blogging world, what's one thing you've learned about yourself?

I've learned that I talk in all caps a lot. Because I get excited easily and believe it or not when I type in all caps I'M ACTUALLY NOT YELLING just so you know. (I'll bet everyone was picturing me over here shouting at my computer screen. XD)

What fictional character would you spend the day with, and what would you do?

Ooh okay so this is a good but very hard question... I think I would probably choose Early from Navigating Early (yes I know I bring this book up a lot XD) and we would go rowing and stargazing and hiking. :)

Well that was fun! What did you think of my answers? Any you agree with? And is anyone else going to be participating in this? :D

June is Over

By On July 01, 2016
HUZZAH FOR WRAP-UP POSTS AND SUMMER AND READING which is basically what we're going to be talking about today so let's jump right in.

favorite blog posts

(Also you may have noticed this section was gone last month. Or maybe you didn't notice it in which case forget I said anything.)

Find Joy in the Journey A fantastic post about finding joy, contentment, and satisfaction right where God has placed us.

The Thing About Followers All about followers, basically. How to get them, WHAT TO DO WITH THEM (the struggle is real), and then other random tips.

Being a Writer Means...  YOU CAN STAB PEOPLE. Just... not in real life. (It was on the list, I'm not making this up.)

Aaaannnddd there were so many other amazing blog posts this month but that's all for now. :) Because I'm actually going to attempt to do this post ON SCHEDULE. (aka, relatively close to the end of the month.) Yes I know you can go ahead and applaud my efforts.

books

I READ 8 BOOKS. Which... actually wasn't that much since I hardly touched my novel. *sigh*

Moving Holocaust novel about a nine year old boy. I was definitely NOT prepared for that ending though. Not in the least bit.

Another WW2 novel, this one about a lesser known event in history. So. Well. Written. Amazing character voice, with tragic backstories included.

Slave boy takes on general in rambunctious adventure, set in the Roman Empire. Well thought out storyline with plenty of action, but little depth.

Alternate retelling of WW1 with bold descriptions and tons of creativity. Overall it was a little slow-moving though.

Heart breaking novel about a boy who's family takes in a foster child with a troubled past.

Hands down my favorite book of the month. Adventure, coming-of-age, and autism. What more is there to ask? The beautiful writing, storyline, and themes pack a heavy emotional punch.

This one was interesting. Half of the storyline in words, and half in pictures. Not exactly my favorite, but it had a very well woven storyline.

GUYS LOOK I READ A ROMANCE. Because it was only 160 pages. It... was pretty much what I expected. XD

words

Well... 3682 words. Total. I WAS BUSY-ISH THIS MONTH. (Reading all those books, most likely.) Thank goodness Camp NaNo started today so I can get some writing done.

blog happenings

So this was an... eventful month. Despite the approaching implosion of my blog, my lack of posting for like a week, and a misspelling in one of my post titles which lasted for like four days (until my Mom pointed it out to me), it was still a really good month for blog stats.

I now have 51 GFC followers, 40 email subscribers, 10,500 pageviews, and nearly 1,000 published comments. Do I sound calm when I say that? That's because I am. Perfectly. Calm.

*inwardly shrieking*

Also you may have noticed that the words in this post are a a grayish color. Actually more likely is that NO ONE NOTICED and now you're all going to go compare this post to other posts BUT DON'T WORRY YOU CAN TAKE MY WORD FOR IT it's definitely a different color.

For some reason it won't let me change it? (I told you my blog was imploding.) *sigh* I shall conquer this somehow, never fear. (Most likely by never pointing it out again and since none of you noticed it until I pointed it out, it will just fade away and everyone will forget about it. Until, of course, my blog implodes on itself and rocks the blogiverse.)

Other than that, I GOT NEW BUTTONS GUYS. You may have already noticed that, but I  have new, shiny buttons up there on my pages. Also, a blogs page. So feel free to go check those out!

goals

Well CAMP NANO IS HERE EEEEPPPP. I'm in an awesome cabin with a lot of the same people as April, but with a few new people. :)

My goal is 7k because I have two vacations this month. (although someone else in my cabin also has two vacations AND THEIR WORD GOAL IS 30K #ambition XD)

But other than that I'm not really doing a reading goal this month because I'm hoping maybe to finish my novel. MAYBE. Because 7k words isn't going to finish it most likely, but I'm hoping to get done at least 10k so I might be done with it by then.

ANYHOW that was my month. (Yes I skipped quotes shhh.) How was your months? Anything exciting happen?
